The Roadmap of Consciousness: An Overview of the Yoga-Sūtra for Western Yogis
Patañjali’s Paradigm
The Road Map of Consciousness
Patañjali’s Yoga-Sūtra Re-Ordered and Re-Considered for Western Students
Over 2,000 years ago, the great sage Patañjali produced his great treatise:
The Yoga-Sūtra
This handbook of transpersonal psychology was written for the Indians of his time.
The sūtra method is very efficient, but can be confusing to 21st Century Westerners.
Salvatore has taken Patañjali’s classic and reordered the sūtras in a roadmap format.
A roadmap helps you learn:
Deśaḥ/Place: Where are you now?
Antaḥ/Terminus (Destination): Where are you going?
Pantāḥ/Path (Route): How are you going to get there?
Jñānam/Knowledge: Important traveling information.
Salvatore will also introduce you to the underlying assumptions of the Vedic Civilization –
very different from our own!
If you have ever been intrigued by the Yoga-Sūtra, this is an unprecedented introduction.
Salvatore Zambito: rogue scholar, mystic, and world-traveling recluse.
Salvatore began his yoga adventure as a student in 1967. He began teaching yoga-āsana in 1968 and yoga-dhyāna (meditation) in 1969. The Yoga-Sutra came into his life in 1968 has been his organizing principle ever since.
He has established several yoga centers in the United States and has taught yoga and related subjects in universities, institutes, and ashrams around the world.
Salvatore is the founder of the Yoga-Sutras Institute and the author of two highly respected yoga reference books:
The Unadorned Thread of Yoga: the Yoga-Sutra of Patanjali in English and The Yoga-Sūtra Sanskrit-English Dictionary.

It is focussed on finishing the processes of bringing the body to true asana -
comfortable sitting position…
You will never sit the same again!

Why Study the Yoga-Sūtra?
Broadly speaking, there are two kinds of philosophy, speculative and applied. All Yogic theory emerges from practice and experience. The book that fully contains and distills the ages of experience of master Yogis is The Yoga-Sūtra of Patanjali. With study in The Yoga-Sūtra, a practitioners practice will become full and complete.
In light of the above points, The Yoga-Sūtra submits human consciousness to the scientific method and stimulates high level critical thinking. The Yoga-Sūtra proposes a system that, if followed carefully over time, leads to the disappearance of the wave-making action (turbulence) in the energy field we call the mind, what we refer to, generally speculatively, as “peace of mind.”
